Sculptured energetically from bare paddock by Beverley McConnell since 1964, Ayrlies takes it name from the McConnell family farm in Scotland.
This country garden is managed with much debate and enthusiasm by a team of four gardeners of which Oliver Briers was the first arriving in 1974. In the following few years most of the ponds were excavated and each has an independent pump to circulate the water.
The site is windy on coastal clay but the climate is mild and frost free.
We hope you enjoy wandering in this much loved garden.
