Dickey Flat Campsite
This campsite is located beside the Waitawheta River, known for its trout and some great swimming holes downstream. There is a year-round liquor ban at the campsite.
Leave SH2 at Waikino, via Waitawheta Road southbound over a one-lane bridge, then take Kennedy Road and Dickey Flat Rd. The final approach is an unsealed road.
Adult (18+ years): $8 per night
Child (5 - 17 years): $4 per night
Infant (0 - 4 years): free
Pay cash on arrival at the self-registration stand at the campsite.
- The campsite pass for rental campervans can be used at this campsite.
- The DOC/NZMCA Campsite Pass can be used at this campsite except between 20 December and the end of Waitangi weekend.
Backcountry Hut Passes cannot be used at this campsite.
Waitawheta River is known for its trout.
There are some great swimming holes downstream on Waitawheta River.
WALKING & TRAMPING
The campsite provides access to a variety of short walks and overnight tramps featuring historic mining and logging remains amongst the regenerating bush.

- A permanent year-round liquor ban is in place in Dickey Flat. Keep liquor away from the site, including in vehicles.
