Wellington’s iconic FREE concert series returns to fill your summer nights with the sounds of Aotearoa’s best and brightest. Get there early to grab a good picnic spot, and, as the sun sets, see the gardens transform with a magical light display by MJF Lighting Limited.

Come celebrate 40 years of Summer City and 150 years of our beautiful Botanic Garden.

Concerts - 8pm-9:30pm

Light Display: 9pm-10:30pm 

If the weather is looking troublesome for any of the performance days, a call will be made by 7pm as to whether it will go ahead or not so keep an eye on our Facebook page. 

*Please note, the rain day performance dates of 14 Jan will only be used if needed, we will make an announcement in this event if there will be a Monday performance.

WEEK ONE SCHEDULE

Tuesday 8 January – ULTRASOUNZ

Turn back the clock for Summer City’s 40th birthday – and get your ‘80s glam groove on. We'll even have cake for the first 150 people and Deidre Tarrant’s Dancers will be performing pre-show, as she was in the first event 40 years ago so make sure you get there early.

Wed 9 Jan - Mundi

Hypnotic rhythms and haunting melodies to dance you round the world.

Thu 10 Jan – Anxiety Club

Feel-good indie anthems of heartache and despair.

Fri 11 Jan – Hans Pucket

Energetic eclectic guitar power-popsters. Support: Earth to Zena.

Sat 12 Jan – jane siberry / Anthonie Tonnon

Fantastic other-worldly musical storytellers – Canadian icon Jane Siberry and New Zealand’s Anthonie Tonnon.

Sun 13 Jan – Summer Showcase 1

A summer selection of top singers and songwriters –Helen Lomas (HL), Peyton Morete MusicLiam Poole Music, Frances Leeds and more.

Mon 14 Jan – Rain day (if needed)
